    POSITION SUMMARY: Maintain, service, and repair the company’s heavy equipment and truck fleet in the field and in the shop. In these roles, you will be traveling throughout Maine & New Hampshire to work on jobs related to infrastructure including landfill, highway, site prep, and public works projects.

    Although these positions may require travel, the Company pays for travel expenses including lodging, fuel, per diem for meals – plus you will be home every weekend! Starting pay is based on experience.

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

    • Able to repair a variety of heavy equipment and trucks.
    • Able to diagnose equipment and truck mechanical issues.
    • Must be able to read parts diagrams and put together list of parts needed for repairs and maintenance.
    • State inspection license a plus, but not required.
    • Class A and or B license a plus, but not required.
    • Must have a sufficient amount of hand tools used in the mechanic trade.
    • Able and willing to be assigned to field jobs and stay out when distance does not allow travel home each day.
    • Willing to work in the shop when required.
    • Able to communicate and update supervisor at least daily.
    • Ability to operate an I Pad to track daily hours and complete work orders.
    • Neat and orderly, able to keep storage box and service truck neat and clean.

    DESIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

    • Minimum High School Diploma or GED.
    • Work experience in construction industry preferred.
    • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record is required.
    • Forklift experience preferred.
    • Detail oriented, demonstrated high level of accuracy and to work safely.
    • Must pass required specialized training.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

    • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

    PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

    THE POSITION:
    Sargent is searching for a Safety Specialist in our Bangor/Northern Maine Region.
    The primary role of the Safety Specialist is to act as a resource to Sargent’s employee-owners in the field and on all Sargent sites. The Safety Specialist will assist the Safety Director with implementing and maintaining Sargent’s health and safety plans. This position requires strong leadership and relationship building qualities and will work closely with Sargent Superintendents, Foreman, and Craft Workers to ensure the execution of project specific health and safety plans. As the Safety Specialist, you will be responsible for frequent visits to field projects/sites to ensure compliance with applicable local, state, federal laws and Sargent health and safety plans. Safety Specialist essential job functions include:
    1. Daily/weekly travel to projects with overnight stays as necessary.
    2. Conduct and document inspections including positive or negative observations.
    3. Create toolbox talks related to Sargent.
    4. Assist with reviewing and updating Sargent’s policies and procedures.
    5. Assist with creating, planning, and conducting Sargent safety trainings.
    6. Assist with new hire safety orientation.
    7. Participate in hand off and strategy meetings for new projects.
    8. Complete incident investigations including “root cause” analysis.
    9. Participate in safety committees.
    10. Act as a resource to Sargent employee-owners in the field for all safety related items.
    11. Use of various software applications (NIXN, UKG, HCSS)
    12. Represent the Sargent professionally in a friendly and personable manner.
    13. Stay up to date with regulations and requirements by attending training classes and seminars, etc.
    Applicants should possess:
    · Minimum High School Diploma or GED. Four-year Safety and Occupational Health degree preferred; or equivalent combinations of technical training and/or related experience.
    · Extensive knowledge of and experience in Heavy Construction & Earthwork.
    – Minimum of 3 years of Safety experience in Construction required.
    · Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe.
    · OSHA 30-hour training, construction and/or general industry.
    · Extensive knowledge and experience in general industry and construction safety, including but not limited to 29 CFR Part 1910 and 1926, MSHA regulations, applicable MUTCD requirements and FMCSR.
    · Valid driver’s license with clean driving record is required.
    · Excellent listening, written, and verbal communication skills.
    · Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
    · Excellent customer service skills.
    · Ability to travel to visit Sargent projects throughout Maine and New Hampshire.
    · Certification(s): CSP, ASP, CHST, OHST, STSC, CSHO, etc. or the ability to obtain certifications within one year of employment.
    · Knowledge of and ability to follow and enforce all applicable safety standards at all times.
    · Ability to make good, timely, and sound decisions.
    · Ability to maintain a neat, professional appearance at all times.

    Job Description

    POSITION SUMMARY:

    The Staff Accountant is responsible for a variety of accounting tasks related to the monthly accounting cycle.  Duties include, but are not limited to, assisting with accounts payable and payroll, tracking fixed assets, recording cash receipts, monitoring cash balances, and reconciling general ledger accounts.  This position will also assist the CFO and Controller on special projects as needed.

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 

    • Reviewing and reconciling general ledger accounts
    • Assisting with accounts payable
    • Processing check runs
    • Preparing and recording adjusting journal entries
    • Supporting month-end and year-end close process
    • Assisting with preparing documents for audits
    • Maintaining fixed asset and depreciation schedules
    • Performing inventory reconciliations
    • Special projects as needed.

    DESIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

    • Degree in Accounting or Finance
    • 3+ years of accounting experience
    • Knowledge of the construction industry a plus
    • CPA license a plus
    • Proficient in Microsoft Excel
    • Knowledge of Sage 300CRE is a plus.
    • Ability to work independently and as a team player.
    • Strong organizational and communication skills
    • A valid driver’s license with clean driving record is required.

    • Excellent listening, written, and verbal communication skills.
    • Self-motivated with ability to handle multiple projects and work autonomously.
    • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
