Sargent is completing sitework for the University of Maine’s new 75,000-square-foot Morse Arena while simultaneously expanding parking for the North Campus athletics complex in Orono. Work on the arena includes relocating water, sewer, and storm drainage, removing and replacing 7,000 cubic yards of unsuitable soils, constructing new utilities and a gravel wetland pond, and reconstructing portions of Long Road with new parking and hardscape areas. The adjacent parking project includes expansion of the Wells lot, reconstruction of the Dunn and Corbett lots, and installation of four electric vehicle charging stations. Together, the projects require careful coordination with ongoing campus activities and other contractors.
