Q: What do you do here at Sargent? What are your main responsibilities?
A: I am the Manager of Human Resources. I am responsible for providing support and guidance to employees, as well as assisting with recruitment, retention, and onboarding of new hires.
Q: What is the most challenging aspect of your job?
A: HR is always evolving; I would say the most challenging aspect is keeping up with the changes that occur and ensuring that we are in compliance with changes. As with anything that changes frequently it is also important to communicate and ensure policies and procedures are kept current.
Q: What were you up to in your career before joining Sargent?
A: I graduated from the University of Maine in 2014 starting my career in the social services field which led me to a position in recruiting and HR. After working in the social services field, I transitioned to Northern Light Health in their Human Resources Department providing support to physicians.
Q: What do you enjoy about your job?
A: I enjoy that not one day in HR is always the same, I also enjoy meeting and working with new people and assisting to support in challenges employees may face in their day to day. I like being able to make a difference even if it is very small.
Q: What is it about Sargent that makes this such a great place to work?
A: The culture and people, I have yet to meet someone who works for Sargent who does not like their job. Sargent prides itself on ensuring that each employee is successful in what they do. Everyone genuinely cares for one another which is great to see.
Q: Is there any aspect of your job that you’re especially proud of?
A: It is hard to say there is one aspect that I am proud of, but I am proud of but getting to help people through challenges or bring new workforce talent is always exciting!
Q: What do you like to do in your free time?
A: My husband and I live on a farm, so we enjoy spending time with our animals. I also enjoy horseback riding and spending time with family and friends.
