The $7.48 million project, awarded to Reed & Reed, is part of a series of improvements along the northern section of Route 1. Sargent began the earthwork in early 2024 by constructing a temporary detour, removing a 23-foot deep granite box culvert, and hauling in over 20,000 cubic yards of material. Challenges overcome included installing cofferdams and bypass pumping while removing the culvert.
