Progress is well underway for the new Interstate 395 and Route 9 connection managed by Sargent. The $83.9 million project began in January 2022 and aims to complete bridges and pavement by this fall. The overall cost, overseen by Maine’s Department of Transportation, is $124 million. Sargent’s Tim LePage is pleased with the project’s advancement, noting it’s their largest endeavor. The purpose is to redirect traffic from Route 1A and Route 46. In July 2023, Sargent focused on earthwork between Levenseller Road and Route 9, while T Buck workers erected bridge structures. Foamed glass fill from AeroAggretates is being used, around 30,000 cubic yards of material have been excavated, and utility conduit installation is ongoing.
