Sargent crews undertook a $2.5 million project for the Greater Augusta Utility District, involving installation of a new waterline underneath the Kennebec River in Augusta. The project aimed to replace the aging water system dating back to the 1960s. The work included laying 18-inch HDPE waterline along a right-of-way from the river to Kelton Road, transitioning to 16-inch C900 PVC along Kelton Road and Hospital Street. Additionally, new 12-inch C900 PVC water services were established for the East Campus. The project began in February, facing challenges like encountering ledges which were overcome using specialized equipment. Completion was expected by early August.
