Sargnet Crews successfully replaced the Thomas Brook Rail Bridge in Oakfield, Maine, overcoming challenges posed by a tight 96-hour timeline, multiple rail lines, and quick-curing concrete. The critical connector for trade with Canada was completed 13 hours ahead of schedule. The Maine Department of Transportation awarded the project, which involved the installation of a 170-foot-long arch culvert bridge, after months of careful planning and coordination with the Maine Northern Railway. Work was done around the clock, with day and night crews ensuring all tasks were completed ahead of the Oct. 11, 2024, deadline. The new bridge replaces a 200-foot structure that was structurally deficient and supports critical regional operations. The project also included stream restoration to protect the endangered Atlantic Salmon. The project was completed ahead of schedule through extensive preparation and teamwork, earning an early completion bonus.
