Sargent employee-owners successfully tackled challenges in installing almost 9,000 linear feet of water mains for the Boothbay Region Water District. The $2,997,525 Ocean Point Water Main Looping Project, signed in November 2022, addressed traffic management in a popular tourist spot and the removal of substantial rock. Sargent’s work, spanning Ocean Point Road, Back Narrows Road, and Montgomery Street, began in mid-2023 and is set for substantial completion in late May 2024. Despite heavy tourist traffic during the initial stages, the project implemented temporary traffic lights and flaggers. Additionally, subcontractor Maine Drilling and Blasting efficiently predrilled trenches for rock removal, ensuring a smooth excavation process. The project includes installing 11 hydrants, 27 house services, and providing water access to Montgomery Street residents. Sargent’s adaptability to changing subgrade conditions and the dedication of eleven employee-owners have played pivotal roles in overcoming challenges and advancing the project.
