This summer, Sargent employee-owners are hard at work on a major demolition and grading project at Piedmont Triad International Airport in Greensboro, North Carolina. The project involves tearing down the former Hertz rental car facility, a Samaritan’s Purse hangar, and various other site modifications. With a contract valued at $12.3 million, awarded on July 25, 2023, the project includes 32+ acres of clearing, 300,000 cubic yards of earthwork, and significant erosion and sediment control measures.
Despite facing challenges from an unusually wet winter and spring in 2024, Sargent crews have made significant progress, working diligently to meet project milestones and stay on schedule. The project is set to be completed by fall 2024 and aims to prepare the airport for future expansion, following the recent dedication of the new Samaritan’s Purse Airlift Response Center in September 2023.
