Sargent has commenced site work for the three-turbine, 18.3-megawatt Twin Energy Wind facility on South Twin Mountain in Rumford, Maine, following a similar project nearby, with Reed & Reed as the general contractor. The project, which was estimated to start in summer 2024 and cost $32.5 million, involves developing 38 acres of a larger parcel and features turbines with a 643-foot tip height. Sargent’s contract includes creating a new 24-foot-wide road connecting North Twin and South Twin mountains, building five stream crossings with bridges, and constructing roads using 80,000 cubic yards of blasted rock, with the crane path being widened to 40 feet in some areas, as well as building 120-foot by 70-foot crane pads. Site clearing began in April, with drilling and blasting starting in June, and the company aims for full access to tower pads by mid-October, with restoration of access roads and green space targeted for mid-summer after the large turbines are erected.
