Sargent’s Experience

Our employee-owners have immense experience in building cells, capping, HDPE, building roads, drainage improvements, sediment ponds, and any other type of infrastructure improvements required by public and private landfills. With such strict environmental laws and regulations surrounding landfills, we provide thoughtful work exactly to specifications while reducing owners' costs whenever possible.

Minimized Downtime

We respect the resource that is your landfill’s uptime. Downtime applies undue pressure to the remaining infrastructure and jeopardizes landfill operations. Safe and efficient return of your facility's operation — and the savings related to reduced project durations — checks every box in our core purpose and values.

Delivering Real Value

While we're not always the lowest bidder, we're always determined to bring real value. This applies to the estimating and pre-construction process as much as it does the construction process. What if we can value-engineer the project to be an even lower cost than the lowest bid? Thanks to our core purpose and values, we aim to be the most valuable contractor you've ever worked with.

Our Skilled and Ever-Improving Workforce

Sargent's first value is investing in people, and it shows in how we manage our projects. To achieve a high degree of accountability and world-class standards of safety, quality, and efficiency, we rigorously train to those standards throughout the year.

“The projects were not easy to begin with — and the landfill does offer its own challenges — but Sargent was able to pivot on many levels when circumstances and situations threw curveballs that changed even the most carefully laid-out plans. I don’t think many contractors could have handled the pressure of the landfill, or the demands I put on them like your guys did.”

Problems We Solved

  • Placed 400,000 cubic yards of underwater material with an on-time completion.
  • Closely coordinated the excavation of 900,000 cubic yards of various materials – some, very soft clays – to a successful new cell.
  • Developed new means and methods to condition clay soils to meet moisture content range in landfill construction that were adopted into future specifications.
  • Developed an efficient system for moving earth materials up landfill cells that had no other conventional access by truck.
